The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and RMIT University’s School of Media and Communication have united to address critical skills gaps in Victoria’s screen industry. This strategic partnership launches in early December with four carefully crafted short courses designed to meet the immediate and pressing needs of the sector.

Developed in consultation with VicScreen, the courses span key areas of production, offering participants the opportunity to gain foundational skills and insights directly applicable to the screen industry. The program opens with a five-day Production Accounting Intensive, followed by Introduction to Producing & Screen Business (two days), Assistant Directing Fundamentals (two days), and a comprehensive five-day Locations Department Intensive.

The collaboration reflects a shared vision between the two institutions to strengthen Victoria’s screen industry.

As Victoria’s screen sector continues to expand, initiatives like these ensure a steady pipeline of skilled professionals ready to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.
