About Us

Our aim is to shine a spotlight on Asian Australian stories as part of the narrative of contemporary Australia. We advocate for Asian Australians to participate in the creation, production, and performance of the industry’s output. We believe the broadening of the industry’s cultural diversity will help align with that of the broader Australian population.

Our vision expands demographically to celebrate, recognise, and showcase Asian Australians—both in front and behind the camera. This inclusivity means we will support our members aspirations in our industry, whatever they may be! Above all else, our aim remains steadfast — amplifying, encouraging, and inspiring Asian Australian voices to escalate their representation in the screen industry.

Our Journey

Our journey at Screen Presence began with a debut film festival, celebrating the invaluable contributions of Chinese Australians in the industry. This event acknowledged the historical underrepresentation of Chinese Australians on screen, spanning from decades past to the present day.

Continuing with Industry Meets, we experienced a growing dedicated attendance, marking a significant step towards our core goal of creating, mentoring, and securing work for Asian Australians in the mainstream industry. The resounding recognition and resonance within the Asian Australian community for Screen Presence is really thrilling.
