Pitching 101 with Lawrence Leung, Urvi Majumdar & Marisa Nanakhorn Brown
Presented by Screen Presence, Melbourne Chinatown Business Association, Konpira Maru Wine Company and the Asian Cinema Collective.
📆 Thursday 15th May, 2025
📍 Museum of Chinese Australian History, 22 Cohen Place, Melbourne.
💫 Get ready for an inspiring and entertaining evening of creative storytelling and big ideas, led by AFI-nominated screenwriter, actor, and award-winning comedian Lawrence Leung, alongside AWGIE-nominated writer, developer, script editor and creative producer Marisa Nanakhorn Brown, and AWGIE and AACTA nominated comedian, writer, producer and actor Urvi Majumdar —moderated by me.
We’ll begin the night with a Q&A-style panel, where our guests will explore the art of pitching — sharing personal stories, creative hurdles, and industry wins in a candid, engaging conversation.
Then, watch the sparks fly in a live pitching competition, as emerging Asian Australian filmmakers present their original projects to our expert panel. One standout pitch will win a $500 cash prize and the opportunity to collaborate on future creative projects.
This event is part of a broader celebration of Chinatown's rich cultural legacy and contemporary relevance — highlighting bold, genre-spanning storytelling in drama, comedy, action, and more. We're proud to amplify Asian Australian voices, and to champion fresh, diverse perspectives on screen.
