Ellen Eliasoph

Ellen R. Eliasoph is a veteran film executive and producer who has spent decades building bridges among the Asian, Australian and global film industries. She became the firstHollywood executive to be based in China when she established Warner Bros.' Beijing officein the mid-90’s. During her tenure as head of WB China and later as founding CEO of Village Roadshow Asia, Eliasoph managed the China releases of many Hollywood blockbusters, including the MATRIX and HARRY POTTER franchises, and produced films by revered directors including Zhang Yimou and Stephen Chow and starring renowned actors includingJackie Chan and Keanu Reeves.

Now an independent producer with companies in the US and Australia, Eliasoph is focused on projects that depict the convergence of East and West; stories that reach back to ourancestors and forward to future generations; and explorations of the ways humanity can work collectively to address the challenges of climate change and ever more powerful forms of AI. Her initial independent production, Neither Donkey Nor Horse (2024), earned a Student Oscarand Student DGA award.

 Eliasoph is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, and a Board member of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art. A summa cum laude graduate of Yale College and graduate of Yale Law School, she is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.
